Breathe

Standard

Year 7 set 3 have written some poems based upon their reading of ‘War Horse’. Their challenge was to use a variety of techniques and imagery, including alliteration, simile, personification and metaphor. There were some great results including this effort from Emma…

Breathe, breathe,
But no time.
Break to canter, heart-racing,
With no sign of the un-nameable enemy
Until, from the floor they rose
Like zombies.
Numbers shattered by fearsome fire,
A change of scene from brown to red.
Daggers attached to wire that sat
Lonely, by itself,
Waiting for dinner.
